The Peoples Democratic Party will inaugurate the National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees on Wednesday in Abuja.
The PDP, which has been dealing with internal conflicts, recently appointed former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola as chairman of the Reconciliation Committee to address unresolved issues.
In a statement on Friday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, also announced the appointment of former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tom Ikimi, as chairman of the Reconciliation Committee.
Both committees will play a crucial role in the party’s future, as their efforts will help reestablish the PDP as a leading alternative political force.
Ologunagba stated that the decision was made by the National Working Committee after receiving approval from the National Executive Committee.
The Committees will be inaugurated on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at the National Executive Committee (NEC) Hall, National Secretariat, Abuja at 12 noon prompt,” he disclosed.
The party has designated Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, as the Secretary of the disciplinary committee. Among the committee members are former Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau; former Ebonyi State Governor, Sen. Dr. Sam Egwu; and former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George.
Additional members include Rt. Hon. Margaret Icheen, Alh. Abubakar Kawu Baraje, Chief Maxwell Okudo, Sen. Effiong Bob, Sen. Abdullahi Idris Umar, Sen. Olaka Nwogu, Sen. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, Gen. Aminu Bande (Rtd), Alh. Mohammed Imam, Hon. Chile Igbawua, and Mahe Dange.
Others on the committee are Hon. Patrick Ifon, Barr. Tahir A. Shehu, Amb. Nuhu A. Bajoga, Hon. Emmanuel Ibeshi, Haj. Zainab Maina, Chief Mrs. Aduke Maina, Barr. P.G.U. Madu, Abiodun Abdul Rahim, and Barr. Jacob Otorkpa.
It read in part, “The NWC charges all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of the PDP to remain focused and committed to the vision, principles and aspiration of our great Party in the overall interest of the growth, development and stability of the PDP and the nation.”
