The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the destruction caused by the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests in Kano has called for public and media support to achieve its mandate.
The Chairman of the Commission, Justice Lawan W. Mohammed (Rtd), requested media support at the commencement of the commission’s activities held at the State High Court on Thursday.
“The commission was constituted to ascertain the remote and immediate causes of the unrest, identify individuals, groups, or institutions responsible for the unrest, and assess the extent of damage to property, loss of lives, and valuables,” he stated.
Other terms of reference for the commission include recommending ways to prevent future occurrences of such events and making any other recommendations incidental to the commission’s assignment.
The chairman called on the general public to support the commission with relevant evidence and facts that will assist in preparing its report, including comprehensive recommendations.
