The Nigeria Archery Team has once again made the nation proud with a stellar performance at the annual Archery Championships held from August 18 to 24 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Competing for the second time as a team at this prestigious event, Nigeria showcased its prowess in the disciplines of Barebow, Recurve, and Compound Archery, wherein all medals were won by Team Nigeria.

The team, comprising talented archers from the ARCH Archery Club and ZEN Archery Club, demonstrated exceptional skill and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Their dedication and hard work paid off as they brought home 10 gold, two silver, and four bronze medals across various categories.

“Archery Nigeria is proud to announce that our archers have once again established Nigeria as a formidable presence in the international archery community,” the Nigeria Archery Federation said in a statement on Sunday.

This achievement not only reflects the growth of the sport in the country but also highlights the commitment of our athletes and coaches to excellence. The archers Aliyu Garga Abubakar, Emmanuel Oyeleke, Damilola Sholademi, Aliyu Garga, Caster Emmanuel, Albdulhamid Umaru, Junaid Oluwatosin, Adebayo Lateef Mubarak, Ado Mohammed, and the lone female archer, Aderinoye Aderonke, have all promised to continue to give their best in the service of their nation.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, and supporting staff who contributed to this outstanding success. Their achievements have not only brought honour to Nigeria but also inspired the next generation of archers in the country.”

“As we celebrate this milestone, we also look forward to continuing to build on this success in future competitions. As with the success of any sport, the sponsorship by corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals would go a long way to make our success a reality,” the federation added.

Recall that Rotimi Williams, Olatayo Olasehinde, Kachollom Enyenihi, and Damilola Sholademi were the team of archers that began the ‘Renaissance of Archery’ in Nigeria after the team shocked the continent by winning two silver medals at their first appearance at the 12th African Archery Championship in Pretoria, South Africa, in 2022.
