Flight operations have resumed at the Murtala Muhammad Airport domestic terminals in Lagos.
This is after the suspension of the strike declared by the organised Labour.
Daily Trust reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended the indefinite strike which commenced Monday.
The strike has led to grounding of flight operations across the country with the aviation unions joining the strike.
However, airlines have started resuming operations after losing a whole day of parking their aircraft.
Checks at the MMA2 showed that as of 11:00 am, many passengers were at the entrance waiting for the Labour Union to call off the strike.
But with the strike suspended for one week, flights operations are gradually resuming.
As of the time of filing this report, a ValueJet flight to Abuja was already boarding ditto the one heading for Port Harcourt.
Checks by our correspondent showed that the airport environment remains relatively deserted following the strike’s suspension but operators are beginning to restart operations.
The General Secretary of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Comrade Ocheme Aba confirmed the end of the strike, saying all members have been mobilized back to their offices.
“Due to the agreement with the presidency, the strike will be relaxed for one week starting from now to enable the tripartite committee concluded deliberations on the minimum wage negotiation so, flight operations will resume now, have resumed actually because all the blockages have been removed,” he said.
